Thailand: Hat Yai

Urban climate change practitioners from cities across Asia gathered in the city of Hat Yai in the South Of Thailand, to share knowledge about the flood resilience measures that have been put in place in the city. Prone to flooding, Hat Yai has pioneered a successful approach to flood risk management, which puts as much emphasis on preparing the population for flooding as it does on preventing the floods from occurring in the first place.

But are the lessons from Hat Yai transferable to other cities in the region?

I caught up with conference delegate, Dr Shiraz Wajih from the Indian city of Gorakhpur to find out.
